Book-Signing Event
Great things happened for me last month and I am so jazzed to share it. on May 3rd, I was invited for a Book Signing at the 451 Cafe and Bookshop. It gave me great joy and pleasure to have such a wonderful, animated crowd who asked politically significant questions. See video here below.
Then a few days later on May 10th, I was sad that my candidate did not win the presidency of the Philippines. Actually, it was more like shattered and depressed.Much to my dismay, I found out that the current administration is working on sanitizing the history of the Philippines, painting the incoming admin of Ferdinan Maros’ son in a good light. Books like mine, about Martial Law, are being banned or otherwise swept under carpet. The years of Martial Law are being recast as the ‘golden Age’ of the Philippines. Yikes!

That was enough reason to give me the chills and consider relocating in a different country. The upside of the election and this attempted sanitization of Martial Law is that it gave my book sales a boost. My best paperback of, ‘A Dictator, A Doorbell, A Dad’ made it to the top 50 in Amazon’s Kindle Store in the category of Philippine History. This is especially good because it demonstrates that Filipinos won’t stand being censored or having their history manufactured for them!
