About Mitos

Welcome to my website. My intention is that it will support and chronicle the process of my writer’s  journey. That being said, I’m dedicating space to review other authors since getting reviews is such an important element for the marketing and promotion of the independent writer’s work. It will also give me an opportunity to share my reading list and my influences. It’s my hope that this website will be a resource for others who will check in from time to time and share their insights.

Since I was little I’d been drawn to writing. I received encouragement like so many others have, and so I dreamt of being a writer like so many do. Mine is a dream that’s gradually taken shape. I remember a childhood essay where I tried to breathe a persona into my inanimate shoelaces; maybe I imagined that they had personality? It caught the attention of my teacher.  She really loved my little essay, and she took me aside and encouraged me to write.  She’d told me, “You have the gift, I encourage you to develop that gift.”  A simple enough word of encouragement. Maybe something she’d told numerous others, but I took that to heart and from that point time on, not realizing what that would entail, I purposed within myself to be a writer.

After many years of massaging and reworking the same stories and material into many different formats, I finally published my first book with the help and encouragement of my dear friend and fellow author, Darby Patterson.

Writing my second book, ‘Shards of Time,’ a creative non-fiction followed. And during the pandemic, I produced a compilation of my blog called Quarantine Wisdom.

Writing feels natural enough to me, but It still feels strange to be called an author by others. Its a process, one with which I am happy to grow accustomed to.
