Susan Myers Lanvin, with her sister, Patti Sapp
is the author of the trilogy
“Listen to the Trees, Forest Musings,
Whispers under the Chestnut!”

Mitos : Tell me about yourself.Susan: I’m a happy person, who enjoys spreading kindness.

Mitos: Can you give me a synopsis of your book in one sentence? Is this a series?

Susan: My twin sister (Patti) and I wrote a series of 3 books, called the Three-Hugger Series, which features compassionate women who use the healing powers of nature to find peace, passion, and overcome grief.

Mitos: What started you on writing?

Susan: I’ve always loved to write, and started with a neighborhood column in a local newspaper years ago. I also taught creative writing to young children for a couple of decades.Mitos: What message or lessons did you want your readers to take from your books?Susan: Our characters live with abundant gratitude, and show the world their true, quirky wonderful selves, and I wish that for our readers as well. A side note: You may have cravings for cinnamon buns, ice-cream and peanut butter cupcakes after reading. 🙂Mitos: Yum, are you currently writing a book now?

Susan: No, we just finished the last book of our series, and are concentrating on finding our target audience. The Tree-Hugger series includes: Listen to the Trees, Magical Forest Musings, and Whispers Under the Chestnut.

Mitos: If you are not writing, what are you doing in your spare time?

Susan: I’m a recently retired educator and LOVE having free time to spend with my husband, family, and especially my wonderful grandchildren, Brooke and Jack. My sister and I painted the covers for our book covers, and I discovered the love of painting, so I made a small studio corner in my reading/writing room. Painting is very relaxing, and I’m having fun with my newest hobby. I’m also looking forward to traveling once again, and am planning a trip to Italy, (yes, my sister and her husband are joining us) to visit the places we wrote about in our second book, Magical Forest Musings.

Mitos: What’s your advice to emerging Indie authors?

Susan: Enjoy the process, and write, write, write. Also-hire an editor- I believe it’s vital for your story to be the best it can be.

Mitos: As a writer, who’s your biggest influence?

Susan: My sister and I are extremely close, and we encouraged each other during the writing process, so Patti is my biggest influence. We took personal events, dreams and experiences and turned them into fictional stories we think will be enjoyable for others to read. While writing, we laughed, enjoyed the time together, and occasionally cried, and you’ll understand the tears after reading. We started writing during the pandemic, so we mainly spent time on a google doc, and FaceTime from our homes, rather than our usual in-person visits.

Mitos: If you were a fruit or a vegetable, what would you want to be and why?

Susan: I picture myself as a beautiful ripe watermelon! It’s a natural thirst quencher, full of healthy ingredients to boost the immune system, and always welcome at parties.
