I thoroughly admire and look up to Indie Author, Cindy Wong for all her accomplishments and how she rocked the Filipino Indie Author World. Every inch of the way. she’s a vital resource for publishing here in the the Philippines. Kudos, Cindy for all your great work and achievement! She recently opened the 8letters Publishing House and Publishing University in Lapu-Lapu City. You are a powerful dose of high powered energy and positivity that the world needs about now!

1. Tell me about yourself.
Hi! I’m Cindy, currently a full-time creative entrepreneur. I founded several businesses, including 8Letters Bookstore and Publishing, aiming to boost the evolving Philippine indie author industry. Aside from offering indie publishing services to professionals and aspiring authors, 8Letters nurtures a thriving writing community by conducting a monthly LitFest with author launches and writing workshops. I also run Passion Hustles where I help small businesses thrive by providing website design and web content, and Family World Travel, a travel agency based in Hong Kong. I also wrote several books, including 31st, Back in Santa Barbara, Embracing Uncertainties, One, Two, Sh*t, and The Meatball Club series. Most importantly, I am a mother and a wife.

2. Synopsis of your latest book in one sentence.
Behind Closed Doors is about three detectives cracking 3 cases in Spring City.

3. What’s driving you to write?
The voices in my head?

4.What message or lessons did you want your readers to take from your books?
Explore and never be afraid to go for an adventure.

5. Amongst all the books you have written, what is your favourite?
My memoir entitled Embracing Uncertainties is my favorite because it entails a favorite part of my life before the pandemic started. It was an exciting period because I was traveling to Russia to visit my then boyfriend, now husband, plus my adventures in Turkey and Antarctica.

6. How many hours do you write in a day?
I write around 3 – 4 hours a day but for work, mostly. Argh!

7. Are you currently working on a book at the moment?
Yes, but I’ve been on hiatus from working on my personal projects. The book I’m working on is called ‘Summer in Siberia’ which talks about my adventures in Russia.

8. If you are not writing, what are you doing when you are not writing?
If I’m not writing, I take care of my little boy, Sevastian. Or I’m probably starting new businesses or talking to people or maybe, traveling. Haha!

9. What would you advise emerging Indie authors?
My advice is to experience the world as much as possible. The more you experience, the more you learn about the world and the more inspiration for you to write. Also, read a lot.

10. What are you reading right now?
I am currently reading manuscripts being submitted to our publication. Quite a lot – the recent favorites are the #PinoySciFi collection that we’re going to release soon.

11. If you were a fruit or a vegetable, what would you want to be and why?
I’m probably an eggplant: good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can be an appetizer or the main course. It can be fried or stir-fried.
